 National Rental Affordability Scheme

The National Rental Affordability Scheme (NRAS) is an Australian Government initiative, supported by the Queensland Government that aims to:

  • increase the supply of new affordable rental housing
  • reduce rental costs for low to medium income households.
  • encourage large-scale investment and innovative delivery of affordable housing.
The scheme provides financial incentives for investors to purchase new affordable housing that must be rented at a minimum of 20% below the market valuation.

The Australian Government is committed to stimulating the construction of 50,000 high quality homes and apartments, providing affordable private rental properties for Australians and their families.
