The Queensland Government has decided not to proceed with the pending privatisation of the management of 4,900 social housing tenancies and properties in Logan.
New future for Logan
The Queensland Government will now focus on a new housing strategy for Logan in consultation with key stakeholders, and members of the community, including the Logan City Council. In line with the Government’s objectives for Queensland communities, the new strategy will help to strengthen and build the Logan community.
We have identified some priority projects in Logan that need investment now. While the new strategy is being developed, a $17 million capital works program will commence to build 70 new social housing dwellings over 3 years.
Information for contractors
The department is responsible for managing the social housing portfolio in Logan, including arranging maintenance and repairs.
This decision will not impact on current work arrangements for contractors in Logan. There will be the same opportunities to work on government-managed social housing properties as there are now.
