Building Codes Queensland

We ensure high‑quality and cost‑effective building and plumbing codes and an efficient system for approving building and plumbing work.

This protects and enhances the health, safety and wellbeing of Queenslanders.

We oversee the Plumbing and Drainage Act 2002 and provide plumbing information on on-site sewerage facilities, water saving measures (including greywater use), sub-meters and more.

We also oversee the Building Act 1975 and provide building information on the Building Code of Australia and the Queensland Development Code.

Closure of the Building Codes Queensland enquiry service

Building Codes Queensland is no longer able to assist with technical enquiries related to building or plumbing matters.

However, a number of industry bodies and other organisations may be able to provide assistance. For contact details, please visit the Building and plumbing industry contacts page.
