 State Government Security

State Government Security (SGS), incorporates the State Government Protective Security Service (SGPSS) and has provided protective security services to the people and property assets of the Queensland Government for more than 60 years.

We operate under the direction of the State Buildings Protective Security Act 1983 and the State Buildings Protective Security Regulation 2008.

We safeguard our most important state government assets, including schools, parklands, courthouses and government offices—24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

Our officers

We employ approximately 300 officers in a variety of roles across the state. View information about working for SGS.

Our well trained and equipped officers are supported by state of the art technology, which ensures our security services are of the highest standard.

Our officers work closely with the Queensland Police Service to ensure situations can be responded to quickly and efficiently with the appropriate level of enforcement.

General security information and ID cards

We offer a range of security services to government and provide a range of general information and system specific guides and forms to support our services.
