Infrastructure Designations

An Infrastructure Designation identifies land for infrastructure purposes to facilitate:

  • the integration of land use and infrastructure planning
  • the efficient and cost-effective provision of the infrastructure.

The Minister for State Development, Infrastructure and Planning can make, amend and repeal an Infrastructure Designation in accordance with the Planning Act 2016 for the purposes of infrastructure such as schools, hospitals (or other types of infrastructure described in Schedule 5 of the Planning Regulation 2017.

Proposed infrastructure designations currently available for public comment via the Department of State Development, Manufacturing, Infrastructure and Planning.
