 Public housing developments

Residential development defined as ‘public housing’ is exempt development in accordance with the provisions in the Planning Act 2016 (PDF, 1.2MB)and the Planning Regulation 2017, Schedule 6 Part 5. Development under this part is accepted development, and does not require a development approval.

In accordance with Schedule 6 Part 5 of the Planning Act 2016, proposals for public housing are required to be considered against the relevant local government planning scheme. The Director-General, Department of Housing and Public Works makes a determination about the level of compliance with the relevant planning scheme.

Public consultation

When a public housing development proposal is considered substantially inconsistent with the relevant planning scheme, we will publish notification online and in relevant newspapers.

You are encouraged to have your say about these proposals by submitting your comments by the closing dates mentioned below.

Following the end of the public notification, the Director-General will have regard to any submissions received when deciding whether or not to proceed with the proposed development.

Current proposals

The proposal for 10-12 Lavender Street, Inala is for an 7x2 bedroom multiple dwelling on land at 10-12 Lavender Street, Inala (Lot 309 RP73162 and Lot 310 RP73162). Reference Number 82474.

A public notice will appear in the South-West News and in The Courier Mail on Wednesday, 27 September 2017.

The consultation for this project begins on Thursday, 28 September 2017 and will end on Friday, 20 October 2017.
