Working in remote locations

Field staff

Our services cover the entire state of Queensland so some field employees may have the opportunity to work in locations that are deemed by us as remote areas.

Some examples of remote areas include:

  • Lockhart River
  • Torres Strait Islands and villages
  • Birdsville
  • Urandangie
  • Palm Island.

Field employees who work in remote locations, in addition to regular wages, are entitled to receive a country allowance and a remote area work allowance.

We give teams working in remote areas enough staff to carry out their assignments and appropriate work tools, first aid equipment, training, and communication devices.

Office staff

There are incentives for QBuild office employees (and potential applicants) to work in offices located in:

  • Mount Isa
  • Roma
  • Charleville
  • Barcaldine
  • Emerald
  • Thursday Island.

Incentives for office staff include:

  • access and travel to specialist medical treatment
  • subsidised housing
  • job search assistance for employee partners
  • other family assistance.
