Awards recognise excellence through collaboration

The 2017 Recognition of Excellence Awards capped an unprecedented year of delivery and achievements for the Department of Housing and Public Works.

Behind every piece of work we deliver are hardworking and dedicated people, and these awards enable us to come together as a department and celebrate our outstanding achievements.

Many of the award winners were cross-divisional teams – a testament to the ‘One Department’ approach that is driving success across the different parts of our diverse business.

The Director-General presented her Award for Leadership Excellence to Regional Director Jonathan Thompson, for his exceptional and inspiring work in Building and Asset Services’ South West Queensland Region.

Some of the people Jonathan has worked with over his long career with the department paid tribute to him, calling him a natural leader with an open, honest and compassionate approach.

Other winners included the Health and Wellbeing Pilot program, the response to the Aurukun community unrest, and the My Neighbourhood Matters project.

Congratulations to all the winners and nominees at this year’s Recognition of Excellence Awards. They reflect the strength of our people and our willingness to go the extra mile to deliver for the people of Queensland.
