New housing legislation

The Housing Legislation (Building Better Futures) Amendment Act (PDF, 1.3MB) was passed by Parliament on 25 October 2017 and assented to on 10 November 2017. It contains changes to legislation affecting retirement villages, manufactured home residential parks, residential services and residential rental premises and rooming accommodation.

The Act and the amendments it makes to other Acts will be found on the Queensland Legislation website (https://www.legislation.qld.gov.au/information). Some sections of an Act do not commence on assent, but will commence by proclamation at a later date to be advised.

The changes will increase transparency and security for people who choose to live in a retirement village or residential park, provide better protections for people living in residential services, and allow for minimum standards in private rental accommodation.
