Our journey – HPW achieves White Ribbon Workplace Accreditation

HPW staff at our White Ribbon Day
We are very proud to announce we have achieved our goal of attaining White Ribbon Accreditation.

HPW staff have long demonstrated both at home and at work, their passion for standing up and speaking out against domestic and family violence.

Achieving White Ribbon workplace accreditation has been a tremendous group effort that has seen all parts of our department all over Queensland, working together on this common goal over the last 15 months.

The White Ribbon Accreditation program has been instrumental in guiding us along the way.

Our journey over this time has progressed through a series of individual steps that led us to accreditation – from signing the White Ribbon canvases that have travelled around the state, attending training sessions, taking positive steps to improve our workplaces to completing our surveys.

HPW’s deep commitment to the health, safety and wellbeing of our staff also extends to providing support to staff who are by impacted by domestic and family violence.

We know domestic violence is very much a workplace issue which can have wide-ranging impacts on staff and can affect the safety, wellbeing, productivity and performance of all of us at work – whether we are affected personally, as a carer, a colleague or as a friend.

Over the past year, we have proactively worked together to promote a broader workplace culture change to make it easier to talk about this very difficult and serious issue.

As a department we have strengthened our prevention and support networks for affected staff, and we have improved our capability when it comes to better recognising, preventing and responding to violence against women.

While we know there is still work for us to do, the department now has better policies and procedures, better support mechanisms for staff, and greater awareness.
