 ConstructionQ

In September 2014, the Department of Housing and Public Works hosted the inaugural ConstructionQ forum, bringing together more than 220 key representatives of Queensland’s building construction industry to discuss the challenges and opportunities faced by the sector.

As a result of this forum, eight key themes were identified as being significant to the sector’s future and it was agreed that an industry-led ConstructionQ Leadership Council (CLC) be formed to drive a structured approach in addressing these themes.

Subsequently, a ConstructionQ Innovation Workshop (PDF, 820KB) was held in May 2015 to review the progress of the activities undertaken by the CLC and it was decided that the key themes would be spread across three red threads to better streamline the work required for each.

Since being established, the ConstructionQ Leadership Council has also drafted an initial blueprint (PDF, 327KB) consisting of specific objectives and milestones to help secure the future of the building construction sector in Queensland.

To acknowledge this important work, the government provided a statement of support (PDF, 296KB) confirming its commitment to the building construction industry.

In November 2015, the department partnered with industry to host a follow-up ConstructionQ forum in Brisbane to identify additional opportunities for advancement, formalise future priorities, and update the blueprint for delivery by the sector.

Special presentations by guest speakers at the 2015 ConstructionQ Forum included:
