Queensland Lesbian, Gay, Bi-sexual, Transgender, Intersex, Queer + (LGBTIQ+) Roundtable
Nominations for membership for the Queensland LGBTIQ+ Roundtable are now closed.
The Honourable Leeanne Enoch MP, Minister for Communities and Housing and Minister for Digital Economy and Minister for the Arts is establishing a Queensland LGBTIQ+ Roundtable that will be administered by the Department of Communities, Housing and Digital Economy (department).
Purpose
The Roundtable provides an effective engagement mechanism for the Queensland LGBTIQ+ community to highlight current issues, challenges and opportunities relevant to the community, with the Queensland Government.
The Roundtable will enable the Queensland Government to ensure the development and delivery of services, policies, programs and strategies are inclusive of, and responsive to, the needs of people of diverse sex, gender and sexuality.
The Roundtable forms part of our commitment to respecting, protecting, and promoting human rights as the cornerstone of a fair and inclusive society.
Membership
Membership will include:
- individuals and network/organisational representatives of the LGBTIQ+ community including Sistergirls and Brotherboys
- a representative of the LGBTIQ+ Alliance when established
- representatives of Queensland Government agencies that support people of diverse sex, gender and sexuality, including:
- Department of Justice and Attorney-General
- Department of Education
- Queensland Health
- Public Service Commission representative of the LGBTIQ+ Steering Committee
- Queensland Human Rights Commission
- Queensland Police Service.
A separate process will be undertaken inviting Queensland Government agencies to nominate a Senior Executive as their representative on the Roundtable.
Membership term
Membership is for a two-year term 2022–2024 with meetings held quarterly online or in person for approximately 2 hours. To allow for the recruitment, assessment, due diligence and approval processes to be completed, it is expected that the first meeting will be held in October 2022.
Diversity
People of diverse sex, gender and sexuality including First Nations peoples, people who are culturally and linguistically diverse, people with disability, younger people and older people across Queensland and representatives of networks or organisations that support the LGBTIQ+ community are invited to apply.
Role of members
Members will be expected to discuss and highlight emerging issues, challenges and opportunities relating to the LGBTIQ+ community with Queensland Government; share their knowledge and expertise relating to the topics discussed at meetings; consider matters out of session as required which may include providing feedback to related strategies, polies and procedures; and engage with the LGBTIQ+ community and networks as required.
Financial matters
Members will not be paid to attend meetings, however, where applicable, the department will organise travel and accommodation and reimburse reasonable out of pocket expenses to members residing outside southeast Queensland.

Nominations for the Queensland LGBTIQ+ Roundtable 2022–2024 closed at 5pm, Monday 06 June 2022.
All applicants will be advised of the outcome of the recruitment and selection process upon its completion.

LGBTIQ+ Alliance Start-Up Grant
Grant applications for early-stage start-up funding to establish a Queensland LGBTIQ+ Alliance will be open from 17 May 2022.
