Call for nominations for the Queensland Lesbian, Gay, Bi-sexual, Transgender, Intersex, Queer (LGBTIQ+) Roundtable 2022–2024 Term

Information for applicants

The Honourable Leeanne Enoch MP, Minister for Communities and Housing and Minister for Digital Economy and Minister for the Arts is establishing a Queensland LGBTIQ+ Roundtable (Roundtable) that will be administered by the Department of Communities, Housing and Digital Economy (department).

Purpose

The Roundtable provides a mechanism for the Queensland LGBTIQ+ community to highlight issues, challenges and opportunities relevant to the community with the Queensland Government.

Membership

Membership will include :

  • individuals and network/organisation representatives of the LGBTIQ+ community including Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Sistergirls and Brotherboys
  • a representative of the LGBTIQ+ Alliance when established
  • representatives of Queensland Government agencies that support people of diverse sex, gender and sexuality.

A separate process will be undertaken to invite Queensland Government agencies to nominate a Senior Executive as their representative on the Roundtable.

Membership term

Membership is for a two-year term 2022–2024 with meetings held quarterly online or in person for approximately 2 hours. To allow for the recruitment, assessment, due diligence and approval processes to be completed, it is expected that the first meeting will be held in October 2022.

Diversity

People of diverse sex, gender and sexuality including First Nations peoples, people who are culturally and linguistically diverse, people with disability, , younger people and older people across Queensland and representatives of networks or organisations that support the LGBTIQ+ community are invited to apply.

Role of members

Members will be expected to discuss and highlight emerging issues, challenges and opportunities relating to the LGBTIQ+ community with Queensland Government; share their knowledge and expertise relating to the topics discussed at meetings; consider matters out of session as required which may include providing feedback to related strategies, policies and procedures; and engage with the LGBTIQ+ community and networks as required.

Financial matters

Members will not be paid to attend meetings, however where applicable, the department will organise travel and accommodation and reimburse reasonable out of pocket expenses to members residing outside southeast Queensland.

Applicants for the 2022–2024 membership term can submit this application form via email or by using online form by the closing date Monday 6 June 2022 at 5pm.

All applicants will be advised of the outcome of the recruitment and selection process upon its completion.

Privacy statement

The Department of Communities, Housing and Digital Economy (Department) is collecting your personal information for the purpose of assessing your application to become a member of the Queensland LGBTIQ+ Roundtable. As part of this process, your referees may be contacted, and your personal information, such as your name, background, qualifications/experience and other information provided on this Application form, may also be disclosed to the following entities:

  • State Library of Queensland (through the Government Research and Information Library (GRAIL)) so that searches of publicly available information and records^ may be conducted
  • Office of the Minister for Communities and Housing, Minister for Digital Economy and Minister for the Arts
  • Office of the Premier.

You may also be asked to consent to your personal information being disclosed to the Queensland Police Service for the purpose of conducting a criminal history check.

If you are a successful candidate, your personal information will be used for the administration of the Roundtable and its activities, including for the purposes of media releases and other publications about the Roundtable.

Your personal information will be handled in accordance with the Information Privacy Act 2009. Unless authorised or required by law, your personal information will not otherwise be disclosed to any other party without your consent. ^Publicly available information and records that may be searched by GRAIL include Australian and international media sources, company searches of companies that you are associated with and personal searches (including director reports, bankruptcy reports, banned and disqualified directors, register or lobbyists and Queensland register of appointees to government bodies).
