About the household programs
Queenslanders are benefitting from a $70 million commitment of energy-related programs and initiatives being delivered under the Queensland Energy and Jobs Plan.
Household Energy Savings Program
The Household Energy Savings Program is a $60 million commitment to provide a series of initiatives to Queensland households that will encourage energy efficiency and advise on appliances and household batteries.
The Climate Smart Energy Savers appliance rebate is the first initiative to be released from this program. Rebates are now available for eligible Queenslanders who replace old appliances with 4 star-rated (or higher) energy-efficient appliances and hot water systems.
Queenslanders have until 11.59pm on 4 December 2023 to purchase an eligible appliance, or install an eligible air conditioner or hot water system. Applications must be submitted within 30 days of purchase for plug-in appliances, or within 30 days of installation for hot water systems or air conditioners. Appliances with an extended delivery timeframe may not be eligible for this rebate program.
Assistance is available for Queenslanders who cannot access or submit a rebate application through the online application portal. Please call 13 QGOV (13 74 68) for assistance.
Enable Grants Program
The Enable Grants Program will provide $10 million to support non-government organisations improve access to energy efficiency advice and devices for households experiencing vulnerability.
Queenslanders experiencing vulnerability and those who have limited engagement with the energy system (e.g. renters) will benefit from this program. It will reduce electricity costs for households, offer more choice and greater energy equity.
This program will be rolled out over two years.
