Choose a digital career that’s right for you

When it comes to finding the right digital career, it’s useful to know how certain personality traits are suited to different roles. In many cases, personality is just as important as having the right skills.

The Queensland Government is offering a free online tool, MyCareerMatch, to students and anyone considering a digital career.

MyCareerMatch will help you find out what your personality type and soft skills are, and which digital careers you’re best suited to.

You might be surprised by the roles that you’re matched to. For example, if you're an innovative person, you might be matched to roles like a robotics system engineer.

To use the tool, simply visit MyCareerMatch and answer a series of questions. When you’ve finished, you’ll be emailed a custom report matching your top skills and interests with the digital careers and study areas that best suit you.

You can then select the digital careers you think look interesting and do further research to find out more about the careers and training pathways.

MyCareerMatch is easy to complete and will deliver your custom report in under 15 minutes. As well as allowing you to learn more about yourself and potential career options, the report will also help you:

  • discover your strengths and talents
  • build self-confidence and know what you’re good at
  • learn about VET and Higher education courses that match your career options
  • strengthen your resume or CV.
