COVID-19: Housing heroes save a life
- 29 April 2020 3:23PM
Every day, our housing heroes work in partnership with local services, community organisations, councils and police to find solutions to meet the needs of our customers.
Kevin from Logan recently experienced the benefit of these community partnerships. Kevin had been sleeping in a car in a local park and was asked to move on. He had lost all his possessions in a fire, had no place to go and was distressed to the point of considering taking his own life.
Local park ranger Mick found Kevin in the park and connected him with the Logan Housing Service Centre. Housing staff immediately contacted an accommodation provider, found a room in a share house and helped him apply for a rental bond to secure the accommodation before the Easter long weekend.
With collaboration and dedication, our staff and community partners are working with customers to get the best possible outcome. Kevin is now looking towards the future with hope.
