For Townsville public housing tenant, Lori, her garden filled with flowers, makes her feel at home.
“I’ve always had plants and grown gardens. Having a garden makes where I live, feel like home,” says Lori.
Lori is a participant in the 2019 My Home Awards and when asked what her favourite plants are, Lori responds with a laugh, “they’re all my favourites.”
Having lived in her place for 23 years, Lori says that the neighbours and the community also make her home a great place to live.
“I like to talk to my neighbours, they are all very nice people.
I also have friends in the area and like to go into the city to have a coffee and catch up with them,” says Lori.
For Lori, the location helps her maintain her health and wellbeing and positive attitude.
“The location is great because it’s near the city and I can walk to The Strand. I like to go walking to keep fit and active.
I think going for a walk, taking care of a garden, being happy and being nice to people are the key to wellbeing,” says Lori.
