Long-term support for Glennis
Glennis has lived in her Bracken Ridge home for over 20 years and Home Assist Secure has been helping with home maintenance and repairs for 17 of those years.
Home Assist Secure provides subsidised trades and services to Queenslanders aged 60 years and over, or people of any age with a disability, when they can’t perform or pay for home maintenance without assistance.
Over the years Glennis has had help from field officers like Jason and Steven, who are based at Home Assist Secure in Sandgate.
They’ve completed jobs like changing lightbulbs, replacing smoke alarms, installing a security lock and guards on the doors, and fixing faulty gates and leaking taps.
Glennis thinks the Home Assist Secure service is great.
“It’s such a relief to be able to ring them up and they can send someone over to fix something for you. You don’t have to stress about what the tradesperson is like, or whether they’ll do a good job,” Glennis said.
Glennis receives a disability pension, so is eligible for subsidised assistance through Home Assist Secure.
“I pay $5 or $10 and the cost of the parts.”
Glennis says she also likes knowing the people who are coming into her home.
“They are friendly, easy-going, and nothing is too much trouble,” she said.
“I always recommend Home Assist Secure. If you have any problems, give them a ring and they can look into it for you.”
