Ruth feels at home thanks to Home Assist Secure
Ruth bought her Queenslander style house in 2000 and has needed maintenance and repairs over the years to keep it in good condition.
Most of the work has been done by the officers at Home Assist Secure.
"I was getting a lock put in one day and the locksmith asked if I was with Home Assist Secure, " says Ruth. "I gave them a call, they came by, we had a chat to discuss my eligibility, and I 've been using the service ever since. "
Home Assist Secure provides subsidised trades and services to Queenslanders aged 60 years and over, or people of any age with a disability, when they can 't undertake or pay for home maintenance without assistance.
The Home Assist Secure officers have helped Ruth with a range of jobs including fixing palings on her deck, putting up venetian blinds, putting in new taps, cutting down trees and replacing lights.
"The officers are always kind and very helpful, " says Ruth. "I 'd recommend them to anyone who is eligible. "
Home Assist Secure is a Queensland Government program which provides low cost, targeted assistance to older persons and people with a disability to continue living in their homes and communities.
The program provides information and referral services and subsidised modification, maintenance or repair services.
