The Queensland Government, through the Department of Energy and Water Supply (the Department), is conducting a competitive process (the Process) to incentivise the development of new grid-connected renewable energy generation and storage projects.
You are invited to review in more detail the context and objectives of the Process by visiting DEWS webpage https://www.dews.qld.gov.au/electricity/renewables/initiatives/transition
The Process will consider the benefits to Queensland associated with additional grid-connected renewable energy generation and storage projects, including the cost of energy supply, the system security impacts of any new projects and support for local businesses and employment. These considerations will be further detailed during the Expression of Interest that will be released in late August.
The Department is considering allowing all grid-connected renewable energy generation sources defined as eligible renewable energy sources in the Renewable Energy (Electricity) Act 2000 to participate in the Process. Further, participation by energy storage projects, either integrated with energy generation or standalone, is also under consideration.
We are currently calling for registration of interest only.
An Expression of Interest (EOI) will be released in late August.
The Department of Energy and Water Supply invites interested parties to register their interest to participate in the EOI using the documentation provided on Qtender by 5pm (Queensland Time) Monday 28 August 2017.
