The Works of this Contract covers the maintenance painting of all steel components of the truss spans and bearings and excludes galvanised steel sections carrying Overhead Electrical Equipment. Rocky Creek Bridge consists of a single 16m span through plate girder and is located at 165.970 on the Western Line, approximately 2.5km west of Chinchilla.. Dogwood Creek Bridge consists of three 18m span through plate girder and is located at 209.920km on the Western Line, on the western of side of the town of Miles.
This Contract requires the complete removal of all existing paint and rust by high pressure water cleaning and/or abrasive blast cleaning. Then full painting, consisting of priming, a barrier coat and then top coat.
Access is by scaffold with suitable containment.
Contract will be Major Building and Construction Works (AS2124).
In December 2018, Queensland Rail introduced a Contractor Safety and Environment Management (CSEM) Process to develop and deliver a best practice Contractor Safety Management Process for Queensland Rail to combat the spike in the number of high potential incidents involving contractors. The Dakabin Station Accessibility Upgrade works and subsequent contractors are required to comply with this new process.
