The Queensland Government is investing in the delivery of a new theatre co-located with and operated by the Queensland Performing Arts Centre (QPAC).

The New Performing Arts Venue project, now known as the Glasshouse Theatre, has delivered a new 1,500-capacity, state-of-the-art theatre (a fifth theatre for QPAC) with the potential to welcome an additional 300,000 visitors a year.

A major milestone in the project was reached in July 2025, when the name Glasshouse Theatre was announced after a public consultation process. The theatre will open in March 2026.

The design features an iconic rippled glass façade that creates a transparent foyer space. The external entry forecourt will feature significant First Nations artwork and the single balcony auditorium delivers enhanced audience sight lines.
