The Department operates within a corporate governance framework. The governance arrangements ensure we meet our strategic objectives and that our resources are allocated appropriately to maximise the cost effective delivery of services.
Our governance committee framework assists the Director-General, as the accountable officer, to meet legislative and accountability requirements. It supports the department’s strategic management and monitors the achievement of departmental business objectives.
The Executive Leadership Team (ELT) is our principal governing body. The ELT supports the Director-General in meeting our legislative requirements and accountabilities. The ELT is supported by our governance committees. These committees convene regularly to manage and monitor business activities, priorities and performance, they report to the Director-General and provide regular updates to the Executive Leadership Team.
In addition, departmental officers are required to adhere to the Code of Conduct for the Queensland Public Service. The code requires officers to act with integrity, professionalism and respect when performing their duties.
For more information about the department’s governance structure, refer to the Annual Reports..
The department likes to get feedback to help us make policy decisions that benefit the community, industry and key stakeholders. Our consultations aim to target specific issues, and will usually run for a few weeks. View our consultations page for detail of our current consultations.
