Directory dishes up support for Queensland
The Queensland Government Food and Beverage Supplier Directory is delivering on our commitment to Buy Queensland, by providing a searchable list of businesses that back Queensland jobs.
The directory
Launched in 2019, the Queensland Government Food and Beverage Supplier Directory already includes hundreds of suppliers.
To be included, businesses need to show they have a physical presence in Queensland, employ a local workforce, and supply food and beverages that are either grown, made or produced in Queensland.
The directory supports the Queensland Government’s Buy Queensland approach, which prioritises local benefits. This includes backing Queensland jobs and local business, while ensuring better economic, social and environmental outcomes.
There is an abundance of suppliers to choose from, offering delicious products from beef to bush food, and catering services through to confectionery.
Using the directory, buyers can also choose their preferred region, as well as business type like social enterprise or Aboriginal businesses and Torres Strait Islander business.
Benefits
The Queensland Government is already using the directory as part of our commitment to Buy Queensland first.
This is helping to serve up support for Queensland food and beverage businesses and jobs.
Government agencies, and organisations acting on their behalf (like caterers or event organisers), are encouraged to source local food and beverages for government events and corporate functions, as well as their broader food and beverage supply arrangements, wherever practical. The Queensland Government Food and Beverage Supplier Directory makes it easier to do.
Localising the supply chain also reduces transport and helps to limit the carbon footprint, while supporting Queensland producers.
With so many delicious food and beverage options on offer, industry and the public are encouraged to tap into this directory and taste the benefits of locally grown and produced food and beverages.
