2023 Awards ceremony
Buy Queensland is an opportunity for the government to use its more than $20 billion dollar annual spend to support Queensland businesses and to support those businesses that are doing great things for Queensland that advance our social and economic objectives.
It's an opportunity literally to put our money where our mouth is and make sure that the whole Queensland community benefits from government spend.
These businesses that we recognise today and award today will inspire other Queensland businesses that there is a pathway to taking part.
There is a pathway to be involved in the Olympics and Paralympic Games in 2032.
I'm just really excited to see the businesses that are showcased here today and the effort that they've gone into to put forward their submissions and the value that those submissions really demonstrate to what businesses are doing in the community, in the environment and for their own workforces.
The awards are our chance to showcase the best of the best in terms of our suppliers.
That great work and that great energy that we get from our supply base.
The winner of the Putting Queenslanders First Award, goes to Australian Training Works Group.
And the winner of this category, of Diversity in Supply Chains Award, goes to Bridgeman.
The winner for the Delivering for Queensland Award is GP One Consulting.
The winner for 2023 for The Minister’s Buy Queensland Award is The Social Deck.
The team back in Noosa is going to be very excited.
The key way it's helped us is just enabling us to take those next steps in growing the business.
I'm feeling very honoured and humbled to accept the award tonight.
We've been able to grow quite significantly through the initiatives of the Queensland Government.
It's helped us immensely, it’s given us the ability to not only I guess employ more people but also invest in our company.
We've got 315 supported employees that will be over the moon with the fact that the work that they do has been highly commended by the Queensland Government.
To be able to be part of the promotion of giving back to Queensland, creating jobs, we're really honoured in the projects that we've had with the Queensland Government, just to be part of the story.
It's a really good way to recognise your people.
So that's probably the major reason to apply.
I think people should apply for the awards next year because I think it's been amazing just to be part of the energy in the room and to really hear about what people have been doing.
I think like everything, you just got to give it a go.
I think the benefits that we've seen in just one event has been fantastic.
So I would say put your hat in the ring and hope for the best.
We’ll definitely be back next year.
100% do it.
100% do it because you're doing all this hard work.
And I think go in it, self promote yourself.
It's just a recognition to show that what you're doing is fantastic and that the government actually recognise it.
It’s a great vibe in the room.
It's great to see so many Queensland businesses come together, some amazing companies here.
You don't always get a chance to appreciate how many fantastic businesses there are in Queensland.
It’s nice to have that chance to you know, meet the other businesses in Queensland who are just doing great work.
Today is about celebrating exceptional achievement, celebrating Queenslanders who are doing wonderful things.
It's an amazing diversity of products and services that people are providing.
It's great to be able to recognise that.
It gives everyone in our branch a huge lift and I know it's one of the things that our Minister and our Director-General really look forward to during the year, is being able to do that.
