Growth helps end indigenous disadvantage
SupplyAUS is a 100 per cent Indigenous owned and operated business 12 fulltime staff, specialising in personal and protective equipment, workwear, uniform and office supplies. It has seen substantial growth, with its DHUWA Coffee products now in leading grocery chains. The DHUWA Coffee packaging educates Australians about Indigenous culture.
SupplyAUS founder Adam Williams, said that winning the Minister’s 2021 Buy Queensland Award demonstrated trust and credibility in their business, and led to more work from corporate entities that enabled their staff to grow to 22.
With DHUWA Coffee products in Woolworths for the past two years, expansion plans are underway to open a DHUWA Coffee café in Singapore later this year.
The Brisbane-based business, which also exports coffee and tea, continues its coffee journey with the recent purchase of Queensland’s oldest roastery, Aromas Coffee Roasters.
SupplyAUS have recently added to their product list with the acquisition of two medical devices – a portable Wi-Fi device that monitors and reports on the heart and the Antigen Testing Pen for at-home testing.
A percentage of SupplyAUS sales go to the charity they founded, Dreaming Futures, which supports Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children in ‘out of home’ care to experience country, culture, and connection.
SupplyAUS also volunteer their time to help steer young people, many of whom have been involved in the juvenile detention system, to meaningful employment.
“We want to turn them into taxpayers,” Adam said. “If we can do that, they can make their own choices.”
SupplyAUS is a strong supporter of the Buy Queensland procurement approach through its commitment to creating jobs for Indigenous peoples, support of Indigenous cleaning, landscaping and food services within its supply chain, its innovative business growth, and its valuable contribution to ending Indigenous peoples’ disadvantage.
